Our Little Girl is home!!!

You can use our blog above to follow us on our travel journey to India to pick up Sananda. We will post to there whenever we can from this point forward. We have been busy making travel and hotel arrangements--and of course that could not go as smoothly as we had hoped either. There is a large cricket match going on that is causing congestion in New Delhi hotels and flights, but our travel people came through for us and everthing is arranged.
February 27th, 2007
Early this morning the ICPC fill-in called and said the papers were signed and a call had been placed to our agency's state ICPC office. What a surprise!!! So now we are cleared to travel and things are really falling into place very quickly. We cannot wait to go. We were praying that someone would be able to do this and feel like God must have put an angel there to fill-in for the ICPC person out for training to get our stuff done!!! We know that He was definately at work in this situation.
February 26th, 2007
AHHHHH, the ICPC person is out for training all week. There was another number left on the recording who worked in another area. She noticed that the person we were trying to get a hold of was on the same floor as her. Surprisingly, on her lunch break she walked over to the other area and talked with the secretary and was told that there was no one else that could do the ICPC. So she left a message for the ICPC person to call us asap. We were expecting to wait another whole week to hear from the ICPC person. Later today we got a call from someone else saying that they were filling in for the ICPC person and that we would probably have approval by the end of the week, but possibly by Wednesday.
February 20th, 2007
HUGH SURPRISE--our baby's passport is ready. We were not expecting it for another 2-4 weeks!!! Now we really have to book it to get everything else ready . . . paper work, packing, shopping, travel plans/reservations, etc. Now all we need is the ICPC and we can travel.
February 12, 2007
Our legals are on the way to our adoption agency for them to do what they need to do with it and get the ICPC process going.
February 6th, 2007
We found out today that our legals have been signed and the passport process for Sananda will now be started. YEAH!!!
February 3rd, 2007
Went out to an Indian Resturant to celebrate the judges approval of our case.
January 31st, 2007
We got new pictures of Sananda today. She just keeps getting cuter. She is growing so fast. We cannot wait to travel and pick her up.
January 29th, 2007
We got word today that the judge heard our case and approved it! YEAH!!! FINALLY!!! Now he just needs to sign a paper that has to be drawn up by the orphanage lawyer. That should be done within a week. Then we can proceed with making travel arrangements.
January 19th, 2007
DARN!!! Our stuff got to Kolkata at 2pm their time, however the judge did not hear any Dillon cases today. There are holidays most of next week in India, so it looks like we won't know anything for a couple of weeks. :(
January 18th, 2007
Good news today . . . a few families from Dillon got their cases heard and approved. Now they have to wait on his final signature which probably won't be done until the last week of January or first week of February. This gives us a lot of hope for tomorrow. We have been tracking our origianls and they are in India, although we cannot tell exactly where they are right now, but they are "in transit" after being in New Delhi so we can only assume that they are on their way to their final destination. It is now 9:30am Friday in Kolkata, India. The day is just getting started and the courts are just starting up. We are praying hard!!!
January 17th, 2007
Today Sananda is 9 months old and we are really wishing she was here and that this whole judge ordeal was over.
January 16th, 2007
Our originals make it to our Dillon representative and were sent our immediately to India. We hope they get there by Friday the 19th and that the judge will hear our case. Actually we are praying that we will hear our case no matter what and if our originals are not there, that he will accept and approve our case anyway with the faxed versions. We found out today though that the judge has been sick the last couple of days, so we don't know what that will mean for all of the cases from Dillon.
January 15th, 2007
Got word that they think the judge wants the originals of the Affidavit and pictures. How does he think they are going to get to him by Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday? Emotions are running high as this just seems so ridiculous and last minute. If he knew he wanted these items like this, then he should have said a long time ago. And today UPS and the US Post Office were closed. Praise God for FedEx though, they were running normal routes and I got our originals overnighted to Dillion.
January 14th, 2007
Many people will be fasting and praying this week for the judge's heart to soften toward our cases and approve them all.
January 13, 2007
Today we got word that the judge now wants new pictures of each of us and our passport to come along with the Name Affidavit. Grrrr . . . will it never end??? What does he care!?!?!?! Really just feels like another delay tactic. We got our stuff to our Dillon representative and it has been e-mailed/faxed over to India. If he does not hear our case next week, the week after that is mostly Holidays for India, so it would have to be after that even.
January 11th, 2007
We found out today that the judge is requesting a Name Affidavit with all the ways we could be referred to since our middle name was not on the NOC from CARA. This apparently is the same for all people, but this last minute request sure seems like a delay tactic!!!
January 9th, 2007
Still striking, so we will definately be moved to next week sometime.
January 8th, 2007
Our court date was today, however there was a political strike in Kolkata, so the courts were closed. RATS!!! We will probably be moved to next week a long with many other families from Dillon since the strike might still be going on for a few more days.
January 5th, 2007
We got word that there was a political strike in Kolkata today and that it might go for several days. Our court date is Monday the 8th, but we hope they are done striking and that our case can be heard.
December 17, 2006
The judge has been hearing, approving, and signing cases finally!!! YEAH!!! Thanks to those that have been praying and fasting for this judge situation to be taken care of. Please continue to pray. We hope to have our baby home soon.
December 10, 2006
We have a court date set for early January. We should find out about the results of the judge being taken to high court this week and we are praying for really good news.
December 1, 2006
Please continue to pray about the judge signing legals so that all that are waiting can be free to travel to get their babies. He has to be taken to high court again because he started to sign, but has once again stopped after only a handful been signed.
November 8th, 2006
We found out today that we got our NOC!!! YEAH!!! Now for the legals to get done then we can travel. Please keep this whole process in your prayers. Feel free to pray and fast along with many others who continue to at different times for all of those that are in this process with us that are adopting from India.
October 29th, 2006
It has been a month since our dossier was sent off to India. We are still waiting for our NOC(no objection certificate) from CARA in India. The normal wait time is anywhere from 2 - 4 months. We have heard that the processes are slowing down, but we hope that it does not take more than 2 months anyway. After we get the NOC we have to wait for the legals to come and then we can travel. The legals could take another 2 - 5 months as well. They are having problems with a judge that signs the legals and it is slowing things way down for many other families as well. We appreciate any prayers and on Sunday November 5th, many people will be praying and fasting for things to break loose!!!
September 19th, 2006
We have accepted our referral of a baby girl!!! YEAH!!! Hard to believe that we have actually got to this point, it has been a long road. We will name her Sananda Hope Stanley.
August 17th, 2006
We took our child/infant CPR training--the last item required on our to do list for parenting education requirements for our agency.
August 13th, 2006
We attended a picnic for parents in the mid-west who have adopted from India. We met many nice families and it was good to connect with them and hear their stories. The food was good and we were able to buy some bangles for our little girl. We are still number 3 on the list and waiting. It was good to see the children and gave us hope that it will happen for us soon.
August 2nd, 2006
We are now number 3 on the list. Yeah!!! We are hopeful that we will get our referral this month.
July 6th, 2006
We are excited, encourged, and thankful to find out today that we have moved up another number on the waiting list. Somehow just being number 5 makes it seem like it will happen faster. We can only pray that it will. Word is that there are more babies almost ready for VCA clearance. That means they can be referred soon, but there is no word on how many babies there are waiting.
The homestudy update is completed and sent off to the agency. Now we just wait, hoping to rise a few numbers soon.
June 4th, 2006
We are in the process of updating our home study now that it has been over a year since we did it the first time. Our state requires this to be updated yearly. We are still 6th in line and are hoping that referrals will start coming through.
We just updated some other pages on this site, please feel free to take a look around. We have deleted sold out itmes and added new ones.
March 16th, 2006
We went to get our fingerprints done for CIS and about a week later we got our I-171. We hope to get a referral soon, our kids keep asking when their little sister is going to come home. We can't wait until we finally get to bring her home.
March 1, 2006
Well, we have moved up a few spots to number 6 on the Dillon waiting list and continue to wait for a referral of a child. If we do not get a referral soon, we will have to update our home study.
November 17, 2005
November is Adoption Awareness Month. If you would like to join in the celebration please visit the Christmas Project "Our Gift" site via the link in the Links section on the left side of this page. Scroll down to see the Links section. When you buy anything from that site, the money raised will go to an adoptive family to help with their adoption expenses. Please visit the site for more details.

Thought we should put some sort of update out here. We are still in the waiting line at Dillon. India had the whole month of May off. It took a while for the orphanage to get recertified. Then a few referrals finally came through which people before us accepted. So we have moved up in the line. However, India has now again closed down for another month due to another holiday. So we will just continue to wait like we have the last 6 months. Pray for us and for this to speed up. :) :) :) This is a long journey and support of any kind is greatly appreciated.
May 22, 2005
We completed our overseas dossier and sent that to Dillion and we are now on the waiting list which is currently projected to take 12-14 months for a referral. Plenty of time to save more money and do more fundraising for the final fees and travel expenses.
March 21, 2005
Our Home Study has been completed and we are waiting continued approval by Dillion.
March 6, 2005
We were approved by Dillion Internation to continue on and we are now in the home study phase and have sent information to the CIS(imigration services)!!! YEAH!!! We have had our first in-home visit and have another one this week. We have gone to an adoption work shop with our home study provider as well as taken some on-line courses for Dillon.
January 31, 2005
We are in the application phase of our adoption through Dillion International and have submitted all the paper work for that and are waiting for their response. Once approved there, we are on to our home study phase.
December 05, 2004
We got through the area craft sales, but did not make quite as much as we had hoped for, but we did get rid of some stuff. We have sold a few cookbooks, but would have liked to have gotten rid of more than we have. You just never know how things like this are going to go. However, we have now earned over $1,600 towards our adoption process.
Now that all that is over, we are more actively working on our home study items as well as looking a little more closely at agency information.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks for checking in and come back as often as you wish to find out what we are up to. If you have contributed in any way, we offer you a sincere thank you!!!
